Kraxton

Where gigantic skyscrapers pierce the gray sky like monoliths and rain pours down like viscous oil. The air is heavy and electrically charged, permeated by the constant hum of surveillance drones buzzing over people's heads like metallic insects.

Holograms and projections flicker everywhere, commercials for synthetic drugs and the supposedly glamorous life that the city pretends to offer its inhabitants.

But in the shadows below, the real war is raging: a battle between man and machine.

It has become child's play to get hold of weapons – provided you know the right people. In shabby garages and hidden workshops, weapons are being created that surpass the wildest dreams of modern armies. Artificial intelligence permeates everyday life like an omnipresent network, and humans are at best tolerated by the machines.

Only the desperate or insane remain. Power-hungry gangs rule the dark streets. Kraxton is a powder keg, ready to explode! Anyone who stays here is gambling with their life.

What brought you here? Hopefully not the empty promises that have been the undoing of so many...

A city of neon light and steel

What is Chrome Rift?

Chrome Rift is basically a card game. For most of the game, you will be busy drawing, swapping or stealing suitable card combinations. You'll be plotting nasty attacks, thinking about the cards of others or using your action cards to thwart your opponents.

But the others will attack you too. Before that happens, you will defend yourself with the dice and drive your opponents to despair, whatever the cost!

What is the game about?

The goal of Chrome Rift is to build up credits using character cards in order to exchange them for weapons and attack opponents.

Chrome Rift has two types of cards. On the one hand, the character cards which you need to buy weapons or health upgrades and action cards which have a special function and can give you an advantage (in most cases).

It's your turn!

Here's what you can do during your turn

  • Play an action card; if necessary, you can combine action cards with the [NO ACTION] trait to increase their effect.

  • Dump one of your cards, draw a new card from the deck in return or take the top character card from the discard pile.

  • Combine at least 3 of your character cards (according to your admin card) to get weapons and attack your opponents or heal yourself with an upgrade.

Admin card – Weapons and health management

Each player receives a personal administration card which shows the types of weapons available and on which they can manage their energy values using their game figure.

You can take the following from your administration card

  • Weapon types and their costs

  • combination of character cards required for the purchase

  • damage value if used successfully

  • defense value if you are attacked yourself

Combine your character cards to make weapon deals and attack your opponents. If you‘re on shaky ground – get an upgrade. Invest in the C-17 bomb (Destruction) – if you dare!
